Hi Christine,
I have a pet peeve I want to air; I have been in real estate for thirty-five years, and trends have come and gone and are on their way back again. All this hoopla about staging and now about green – don’t you think it’s all hype to get the seller to spend more money? I think it’s crazy. I saw all the younger people in our office get “tech savvy”, but I haven’t even learned how to do e-mail, I don’t have a BlackBerry yet, and I still have clients.

Well MFFC,
I guess the question is, why are you mad? If what you are doing is bringing the results you want and need, then good for you. Staging and the “green” movement are less about you and more about your clients’ ROI. Green is important from many perspectives; the one that affects your client is ROI for energy efficiency and how appealing it is to a prospective buyer. The staging process proves over and over that there is a huge ROI when it is applied before marketing.
So, MFFC, you don’t need a BlackBerry to give the very best service to your clients, but you do need to know more about staging so you can introduce it to your clients, and you definitely need to know more about how the interest in green practices affects both buyers and sellers. You would be a good candidate for both of the CSP one-day programs in these subjects. Contact me if you are interested. Remember, we are here to help you be the best real estate agent you can be.
